Representative Experience

Karen C. Reynolds is an associate in the Employment, Labor, OSHA and Immigration group. She concentrates her practice on representing management in labor and employment matters, including responding to EEOC charges, employer counseling, handling immigration compliance audits and investigations, and employment litigation.

She has conducted numerous investigations, including allegations of alleged harassment, whistle blowing, immigration compliance, retaliation, alleged inappropriate touching by medical professionals, and more.

She has particular experience in employer immigration compliance activities, including representing employers who are under investigation by federal immigration authorities (ICE) and by law enforcement, such as the raids conducted on worksites in metropolitan Phoenix by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office under the Legal Arizona Workers Act (LAWA) and other laws. She regularly conducts audits of employers to confirm or bring them into compliance as part of preventive strategies to reduce the risk of liability.

Ms. Reynolds also has experience in matters under Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, and other employment laws.

Representative Matters

  • Ms. Reynolds investigated a municipal Benefits Director’s widely publicized allegations of improper conduct directed at the Human Resources Director, City Manager, and others. Her investigation found the allegations to be unfounded, documented performance issues by the accuser, and led to the negotiated departure of the accuser on favorable terms.
  • Ms. Reynolds has conducted investigations of and handled matters involving allegations of inappropriate touching against medical doctors, including obtaining the full restoration of privileges to practice at a hospital and the dismissal of a Board of Medical Examiners complaint in a matter in which a police department had initially recommended criminal prosecution of the doctor, but no charges were ever filed.
  • She has represented a client in an ICE audit, including administrative subpoenas by the federal government, handling notices of suspect documents, notices of unauthorized aliens, notices of technical defects in I-9s, defending allegations of knowingly employing unauthorized workers, resolving civil penalties.
  • She has represented an employer whose business was raided by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office under LAWA for allegedly employing unauthorized persons, including search warrants, production of documents, obtaining the return of company information, and defending against alleged violations of Arizona employer sanctions law.
