Biography

Ms. Sellers earned a Master of Science in Taxation before beginning law school. Her interest in benefits stemmed from her background in taxes. As a result, Ms. Sellers often counsels employers, plans fiduciaries, and plans with their legal responsibilities under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). She assists clients with the creation of plans, their governance and administration, and their termination. Additionally, under the additional requirements put in place by the Trump administration, Ms. Sellers has specific experience with multiple employer welfare arrangements, including association health plans. She also represents clients in DOL and IRS-qualified and nonqualified plan audits. Ms. Sellers additionally creates Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO) and offers guidance throughout the QDRO procedure.

Ms. Sellers advises covered entities and business associates in the health care industry on how to adhere to the complex laws and regulations governing the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act's (HIPAA) privacy and security requirements, including the carrying out of self-assessments. When there has been a breach of protected health information (PHI) or when one is suspected, she assists clients in navigating the situation. Ms. Sellers tackles ACA-related matters in addition to her HIPAA practice, such as reducing employer mandate fines and developing wellness programs that are compliant with the law.

Ms. Sellers' work has grown to include guidance on best practices relating to EMV technologies and the security of financial transactions as a result of her experience with HIPAA privacy and security regulations. She assists clients in adhering to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards, reducing the likelihood of responsibility for fraud.

Ms. Sellers has extensive M&A experience as well. She has been in charge of multimillion-dollar acquisitions' due diligence and frequently provides advice on whether specific M&A transactions are in compliance with Arizona law. Additionally, Ms. Sellers frequently bargains over executive pay when M&A deals are being made.

Ms. Sellers offers customers guidance on a number of tax issues in her corporate practice, including state and local tax concerns. She further assists companies with corporate formation, governance, buy-sell agreements, and succession planning.
