Derrick joined Cavanagh as an Associate in 2026, working primarily in commercial litigation and insurance defense.

Born and raised in Chandler, Arizona, Derrick studied English and French at Brigham Young University, graduating in 2023.

Derrick earned his J.D. from The University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2026. While there, he participated in various experiential clinics, including the International Law Clinic, where he helped represent Confederated Native Tribes in a cross-border mining dispute. He also represented The University of Utah in the Giles Sutherland-Rich Memorial Moot Court Competition in 2024, and the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 2025.

In his free time, Derrick enjoys playing golf, reading books, and rooting for Arizona sports teams.
