Scott’s practice focuses on estate planning, probate, and trust administration. He spends about half of his time working with individuals and families to prepare their estate plans, and the other half helping families administer their deceased loved ones’ estates.
For most individuals and couples, an estate plan includes a Last Will and Testament, powers of attorney, and deed documents to handle the distribution of real estate. For many, a revocable (“living”) trust is a crucial tool to avoid probate and manage the distribution of assets upon death.
Scott can also assist individuals and couples who need more complex estate planning. These clients may need to utilize instruments such as irrevocable life insurance trusts, charitable remainder trusts, or special needs trusts.
After someone has passed, Scott assists their families and loved ones in the probate or trust administration process. This includes the payment of final expenses and taxes, notifying and distributing to beneficiaries, and handling any creditors.
Outside of the office, Scott’s interests are eclectic. His favorite way to spend his time is with his wife, Aubrey, and their son. Scott is an enormous baseball and college football fan. He is working his way through the “Great Books,” and enjoys the local jazz and classical music scenes. He has also run multiple marathons.
