New I-9 Form Required

On Behalf of | Mar 8, 2013 | Publications & Presentations

On March 8, 2013, the USCIS released a new, 2-page I-9 form. Employers must complete a Form I-9 to verify employment authorization at the time they hire a new employee. It is important for employers review their I-9 and E-Verify compliance on a regular basis, including internal audits and immigration compliance training. Employers should start using the new I-9 (Rev. 03/08/13) immediately, but the USCIS has provided a 60 day grace period for employers to transition to the use of the new I-9. Prior versions of the Form I-9 may no longer be used after May 7, 2013. The new Form I-9 is available at I-9 Central, http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf
