Arizona SALT Newsletter Vol. 34
Governor Hobbs recently signed SB 1700, which prohibits County Boards of Equalization from finding that property values exceeded the assessor's noticed value or recommended classification. (In Arizona, property owners may appeal the value or classification of locally assessed properties to the Arizona Tax Court, or initially to the assessor's office. Property owners who first appeal to the assessor's office may then appeal directly to the Arizona Tax Court, or to the State Board of Equalization or a County Board of Equalization. The State Board of Equalization is mainly for property owners in Maricopa and Pima counties. Property owners in smaller counties generally must appeal to their local County Board of Equalization, comprised of their local County Board of Supervisors.) In addition, I updated the page on my website that makes it easy to track proposed Arizona tax legislation.
