Biography

With her no-nonsense approach to goal-driven advocacy, Tonya’s clients are confident that their positions are effectively represented. Ms. MacBeth joined the Cavanagh Law Firm and its robust family law group as a senior member, having previously been a shareholder at another well-respected Phoenix firm for many years. Tonya focuses on divorces with complex financial portfolios, abusive behaviors, or significant parenting issues—though it is a pleasure to efficiently guide people through amicable resolutions and “Summary” divorces. Tonya also serves as a divorce and parenting-issue mediator.

Tonya graduated from the University of Arizona in 1991 and Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law in 2005, with the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award. During law school she won American Bar Association’s Representation in Mediation Competition (Nationals: 2nd Place; Western Regional two-time 1st Place Winner). Prior to law school, Tonya had a career in the Arizona mental health system, serving as a state-appointed advocate for individuals designated as Seriously Mentally Ill, and Arizona Department of Health Services/Behavioral Health independent contractor for the investigation of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and mortalities.

Tonya is a member of the Arizona, New Mexico (inactive), Nevada (inactive), and the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of Arizona and New Mexico. Tonya is a litigator able to balance the cooperative approach necessary to facilitate agreements while maintaining the attention to detail and strong advocacy necessary for trial. Whether its a new divorce or re-working the parenting plan, Tonya is prepared to be your advocate.
