Representative Experience

Mr. Jared's practice focuses on domestic relations and family law matters.  He handles cases involving dissolution of marriage, legal separation, spousal maintenance, paternity, child custody, child support, and grandparent rights.  Mr. Jared has experience navigating complicated issues, including jurisdiction (multi-state and international), pre-marital agreements, post-marital agreements, separate property, community property, quasi-community property, asset valuation, child custody (legal and physical), parenting time schedules, and child relocation.  He has obtained excellent results representing clients through motion practice, depositions, hearings, settlement negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and trial.  In so doing, he has gained experience coordinating and preparing clients, and third-parties, including bookkeepers, accountants, real estate appraisers, business valuation experts, child custody experts, and lay witnesses, for purposes of assembling, organizing and presenting relevant information and testimony.  The following are examples of specific issues that have arisen during the course of his practice:

  • Evaluation of real estate documentation, purchases/refinance settlement statements, mortgage payment histories, improvements, and appraisals in the context of assessing separate and community claims in real property.
  • Evaluation of bank and investment account records regarding the performance of assets and transfers of funds between accounts for purposes of tracing separate and community property elements therein.
  • Analysis of claims regarding waste of community assets, including complex tracing issues.
  • Presentation of complex forensic accounting issues pertaining to payments to mortgages, lines of credit, credit cards, transfers between accounts, and general expenditures, for purposes of identifying reimbursement claims.
  • Evaluation of vesting schedules for stock and options to identify community and separate components.
  • Analysis of domestication, statute of limitation, and forum non-conveniens issues pertaining to litigation and seeking enforcement of out-of-state divorce decrees.
  • Analysis of an international jurisdiction dispute requiring application of marital domicile and "divisible divorce" principals.
  • Establishment and modification of custody rights, parenting schedules, child support, and spousal maintenance.
  • Preparation of clients for Parenting Conferences conducted by Court Conciliators.
  • Collection of data from environmental and education agencies permitting comparison of air quality and school quality in the context of child relocation case where client developed health issues related to air quality.
