Eric Witt joined The Cavanagh Law Firm in 2011. Mr. Witt is an associate in the Employment, Labor, OSHA & Immigration group at The Cavanagh Law Firm. Mr. Witt has had broad litigation experience. He has worked on a variety of commercial, class actions, and employment cases. His employment litigation experience includes wage and hour class actions and single plaintiff claims of retaliation, discrimination, and improper classification of individuals as independent contractors. Mr. Witt has also prosecuted and defended alleged violations of non-competition and confidentiality agreements. He has also responded to government agency investigations concerning compliance with meal periods and rest breaks and proper classification of employment status. Mr. Witt has experience drafting a variety of pleadings and motions. He recently drafted a successful motion for judgment on the pleadings in a case involving allegations of retaliation and denial of overtime wages. He also is experienced with propounding and responding to discovery requests and taking and defending depositions.
Prior to joining The Cavanagh Law Firm, Mr. Witt was a litigation associate in the Boston and Los Angeles offices of Goodwin Procter, a national law firm. More recently, he worked in the Irvine, California office of Berger Kahn, a litigation boutique. Mr. Witt is admitted to practice in California and Massachusetts. He is presently practicing under the supervision of the principals at The Cavanagh Law Firm and will obtain admission to practice in Arizona at the next opportunity.
Mr. Witt graduated magna cum laude in 2004 with a B.A. in history from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle, Washington in 2008 and served as an Articles Editor on the Washington Law Review.
